Swamps

The first journey started in October 2005.

The swamp is a place of life outside life, taking place in life itself.

Still water exerts a strong and unexplained attraction; the swamp felt like the edge of my self-knowledge - a place where tension and conflict are the essence of silence and the active substance.

Why take an interest in active substance? In locked power? Why conduct consistent visits at a place of edge, where time stops and the linear direction of movement changes?

I have been coming to the swamp area in North-West Germany Since 2005. I stayed in the nearest town for several days - photographing, listening, recording, and waiting.

There are early mornings and late nights, cold winters, and bright northern summers. The swamp is part of a series of swamps in North-West Germany, where I have worked for several years.

Several articles from the swamp have been taken to the studio and constitute the base for films and drawing processes.
